Speaker 1:
Alright, here we go. Yay. I love having my sister-friends on the show. Because God works in incredible ways and crossing our paths at just the right moment. Kelsey and I first met just this year through our podcasting community. We have the same incredible podcast coach. And Kelsey found her new passion this past year, and started encouraging, writing, and coaching women. She once used to have no direction and felt lost and purposeless with big dreams in her heart and now feels like she finally knows where God is leading her to live out those dreams. We both believe that kingdom life is the best life and I knew I just had to have her on the show to share her story, her spirituality, encouragement and purpose, and dreams for all moms, and how she’s been able to navigate hard seasons. Plus just having fun and talking about the kingdom. So welcome, Kelsey.
Speaker 2:
Hi Heidi, thanks so much for having me. I’m excited.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, thanks for jumping on. So for those that don’t know, you just tell us a little bit about you. What lights you up, what your hobbies are, and how you like to spend your free time.
Speaker 2:
Yeah, so I am Kelsey Joy Rinker. I’m a kingdom speaker and breakthrough coach and the host of the “Kingdom Dreamers” podcast. So, I’m a wife and a mom, I have a second baby on the way this month. So it’s getting a little crazy. But yeah, my passion is to equip and encourage women to really tap into their God-given identity and partner with Holy Spirit to live a more joyful and abundant life. My hobbies are singing, writing, dancing, and recently been encouraging women, I just, I love being able to partner with other women and help them along this journey and, and really discover God and who he is so and worship music is like such a big thing for me, because I love just connecting to God in that way. So yeah, I spend my free time really doing, doing all that.
Speaker 1:
That’s awesome. I love that you work with women to encourage them just to dream again, and that you have a whole podcast that revolves around that. So tell us a little bit more about that kind of what you do for a living, how you started Kingdom Dreamers, and what that journey has been like for you.
Speaker 2:
Yeah, so, I am a realtor, I got my license about four years ago. So I was doing that more on the side, while also being a stay-at-home mom. But I started realizing that, that really wasn’t my main passion. And I wasn’t sure exactly where God was leading me or how these dreams in my heart could actually come alive. And so I originally started, I created my brand “Joy by Design” a couple years ago. And in the, at the time, I felt like God was speaking to me and telling me that you were designed for joy, and that everyone like we all as his children were designed for joy. But it’s so easy to forget that and so easy to not actually live in that or experience it. And so I made this, you know, platform, this ministry, where I was just encouraging women, you know, on Facebook and prayer and stuff like that. And so I loved, I loved doing that and then I started just becoming more and more aware of the dreams that were on my heart and wanting to explore that. And so I started thinking about dreaming, dreaming with God. And I’ve always been a dreamer, my whole, you know, my whole life, I’ve always felt like I’ve had these big dreams that seemed unattainable. And so it really came about when I was thinking, okay, God, you know, I have have these dreams and totally a dreamer. And I felt like then, He was just saying like, it’s okay to dream big with God. And women need to know that they can be a dreamer that they can actually Dream Big with God and feel like God wants that instead of feeling like they’re limited, you know, limited to what the world tells us or to what reality is, but instead, with God that everything is possible, and He’s so big and that we can walk in that and we can dream with him in that.
Speaker 1:
I love that. I felt Holy Spirit all over that when you were talking and your middle name is Joy, right?
Speaker 2:
It is. Yeah.
Speaker 1:
So you have like this Bourne Identity of Joy. Just like Ray out there in front, actually just got a vision a picture of “The Greatest Showman” when you were talking.
Speaker 2:
Oh, cool.
Speaker 1:
You’ll love that movie.
Speaker 2:
Yes, it’s so good.
Speaker 1:
One of my favorites, too. So how do, how does one know if their dreams are from God? So if we have these big dreams, and it’s okay, and it’s safe to dream of God, how do we know that that’s what he wants for us or if they are from him?
Speaker 2:
Yeah. I think for me, it was just I couldn’t get rid of the, the little like inclinations on my heart and the, you know, I maybe I’d have like a burning passion for something but I didn’t know necessarily direction on it. But if it’s lighting you up, if you feel that pulling if you have you know a passion in something, I really believe that that’s God and He wants you to explore that and it could be something really small or it could be something really big and it’s allowing you yourself to, to just even go there instead of just dismissing it and thinking, “Oh, well, that’s just me or that can ever happen.” or, you know, “why would God want me to do that”, but it’s allowing that desire to come alive and just believing, “Okay, God, if this is from you, you’re going to make it clear. And you’re gonna show me the way on that.”
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that’s good. I think sometimes as moms, we can slip into this almost idea. I mean, lie, I would say that it’s selfish to have dreams, right for ourselves, outside of our families, or serving others. And so that’s awesome. What would you say to other women who have a dream from God and need help stepping out, then?
Speaker 2:
Yeah, I would say, to really just take a step. For me, I had no idea what it would look like, I didn’t even know that it was God, really, I just, I had something on my heart. And I decided to just take a step out. And the more steps that I took, the more clear it became, the more direction I felt. And I knew God was leading me in that once I allowed myself to just step, step out in faith, and trusting that he is going to guide and he’s going to take me to where I need to go. So I would just say, you know, whatever, whatever you feel in your heart, just take a small step forward. And if it fails, it’s okay. Because it’s going to get you a step closer to what it is and to what God has. And to not let that fear stop you or discourage you, because God’s gonna work through it no matter what.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that’s good. That’s good. And I think there can be too like almost this fear of stepping out, because maybe they’ve been disappointed in the past. Yeah. Or, I mean, for me, I do like kind of having a plan. But I’m also very much like, build my plane on the way down type person. So yeah, I’ll just step out and figure it out as I go. But what would you say, you know, speaking to that disappointment, what are some areas in your life, if you wouldn’t mind sharing, or in the lives of the women, you’ve coached? Where there have been, you know, there has been a disappointment in this stepping out?
Speaker 2:
Yeah, I think motherhood for me has definitely been more disappointing than I had hoped. I especially pregnancy, both my pregnancies have been super, super rough on me. And I found myself just so discouraged and disappointed because I know, God had, or I know, He has so much more, and He promises all these things. And a lot of the women that I’ve coached or talk to you, you know, their motherhood for them as well, it’s not feeling like they have a purpose or identity in that. And their marriage just been stuck in stress and overwhelm. And they’ve just kind of stayed in this place of disappointment. And I have had to really just ask God, you know, to show me how to get out of that, and how to find Him in the middle of that.
Speaker 1:
Yeah. I think a lot of us can relate to having disappointments during pregnancy and motherhood, for sure. I just think of this meme where it’s like this big gorilla, right? And it’s like, I was promised glowing and all this stuff with pregnancy. And that was definitely not my experience. So yeah, there can be these expectations. And when we when those expectations are failed to me that it’s like premeditated disappointment almost in a way. Totally. Oh, thanks for sharing that. How have you been able to find God in those hard seasons?
Speaker 2:
Yeah, for me, a big one. Definitely worship, listening to worship music, and just allowing myself to get lost in that and really just like, sit in His presence, because it’s the only escape at times. And the only way to find that peace that we all long for and scripture, I mean, definitely, I personally love when I’m praying, I’ll ask God for a specific verse, or to show me something like, you know, God, can you show me a picture? Or can you give me a word on what you want to say to me in this season, or in this moment? And then I’ll just, I’ll write it out. And I’ll meditate on it. And when it’s like, specifically from Him, it’s so much deeper. And it’s, you know, it’s so personal instead of just the generic like verse, which, of course, that is amazing. But when it’s like He specifically gives you that verse or that word, then it’s like, okay, you’re really you’re really talking to me right now. And this is a real promise from you. So those you know, a few ways that I’ve been able to find Him and just trust Him and lean on Him and that.
Speaker 1:
Definitely! God’s Word does not return void. And that is one of the things that I’m discovering is we can have all the head knowledge in the world but when God speaks to your heart, man, things change in a second.
Speaker 2:
Yeah
Speaker 1:
And things that used to be a barrier or a stronghold. It’s just like, gone as if it never even existed in the first place. So love that. All right, what can you say to encourage any ladies who are listening right now who might be going through a disappointment?
Speaker 2:
Yeah, I would say, you know, just keep your head held high. I know it is, it is hard to be in the middle of the discouragement and disappointment, but just know that God is on your side. And even if it doesn’t feel like it, even if it doesn’t look like it, He is still working on your behalf. And He’s still working on all things for your good. And to just wrap your mind around His promises, you know, meditate on His truth and His promise and start just doing even little mindset shifts that maybe you feel completely hopeless and you feel like this is never going to change. Instead even think of thought like, Okay, God, I know you’re doing something, I know, you’re gonna turn this around, I know you’re working on my behalf. And even just that little shift in your mind will allow you to start feeling better, start coming more alive, and start being able to trust Him. And just don’t let that discouragement or disappointment take over. Because that is what the enemy wants. And He’s going to do whatever he can to keep us in that.
Speaker 1:
So true. Absolutely. Well, you have a free gift for our listeners today, you have a five-day devotional called “Renew your Spirit and Soul”. I will drop the link for those that would like to download that. But would you mind sharing a little bit about that?
Speaker 2:
Yeah, so I created that about a year ago. And it’s just five days of pretty much a devotional, it’s, you know, I wrote a little bit of my experience throughout these five days, and just how God was leading me and what He was showing me. And there’s, you know, like some journal prompts and meditation stuff in there. And it’s just a small booklet to encourage and to help women realign with God and what His purpose is, and, and what He wants to bring to them.
Speaker 1:
Well, thank you for offering that up today. For all the listeners. If people want to connect with you, where can they find you?
Speaker 2:
Yes, so you can find me on Facebook, I have a free community on there. It’s called “Kingdom Dreamers”. So I’m always in there encouraging and going live and, you know, posting if anyone has prayer requests and all that jazz. And then I have a podcast called The Kingdom Dreamers. So, please.
Speaker 1:
Awesome. Thank you. All right, one final question other than having baby, and raising baby and feeding and nursing baby, what’s next for you in 2021? What are you cooking up there?
Speaker 2:
Yeah. So what I really want, I want to start planning events and retreats, being able to hold you know, maybe like a two day retreat coming up, and then smaller gatherings and events for women. And I want to create a course also. So I’m going to be working on that. And we’ll see you know what the Lord believes in, and with a new baby how that happened. Yeah, just keep coaching and keep encouraging women.
Speaker 1:
Wonderful! Well, thank you, Kelsey, for sharing your heart and your experiences today and just giving encouragement to all the listeners. I just want to bless everything that you’re doing and that God gives you those divine connections, relationships, the time, like the supernatural time to accomplish your dreams and goals that you have set in your heart for this year. And as you grow your family just doing it at a pace of grace, that honors the both your family as well. So just bless you with that. And thank you again for joining us today.
Speaker 2:
Thank you so much! It’s an honor to be here.
