First let me summarize that first 4 TIPS from PART 1 in Episode #17:
- Do an end-of-year review + get into a space of gratitude
- Make a list of your top 10-12 goals for this year and from that list choose the #1 desire of your heart
- List what obstacles, challenges or skills you need to overcome both inside yourself and outside
- List out everything you will have to do in order to reach your goal and then # them in order
Once you have your functional operating system or workflow down, then you need to have the RIGHT attitude and belief about your operating system and that it’s going to work for you.
#5 My last tip is to keep inspiration front and center with the right tools.
Coming up with a way to stay positive and monitor or update your goals throughout the year is a great plan so I am a big fan of checking in quarterly on your goals for sure, but I don’t believe that is the only thing we should rely on. Setting goals and then saying, “ok, I will check in on those in 3 mos and see how I am doing” is the worst thing you can do! Have you ever set a goal and literally forgotten about it by the next day?! Oh my goodness — I do this ALL the time and then I get mad at myself because while grabbing a latte and a muffin or eating chips every night before bed. I’m like, “oh yeah, that’s right, I wanted to lose weight. I guess I’ll start tomorrow lol.”
Once you have a pinpointed the real desires of your heart, set a realistic goal and considered what is going to get in your way and also what needs to happen to make your goals a reality, the 5th and final step is that you HAVE to create a way to keep that goal front and center…every SINGLE day. To get something different than you’ve always gotten, you have to DO something different to get there, right? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results. So you have to set up a system to not only keep your goals front and center but to also create the VISION of the goal being accomplished. Remember, we are not worrying about tomorrow because tomorrow will take care of itself, but we are focusing on the present of today what we can do today that will add up with tomorrow and the next day and the next 90 days to bring the desires of your heart into reality.
Here’s what I suggest:
Take your year end goal and break it down by quarter and write the FIRST quarter goal on a note card. Write it in such a way that you’ve already accomplished it! Take into account what you need to do daily to get there, any obstacles you would have to overcome when they present themselves, and how you feel as a result of reaching that goal. I will share an example of this in a minute but this little note card is something that you will read every morning when you wake up and every evening before you fall asleep. Keep it by your night stand and declare it out loud! The kingdom of God is voice activated. Job 22:28 says, “Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”
God spoke the world into form, and we are made in his image, meaning, the words that we speak actually have the power to create. Scripture says that life and death are in the tongue. Truly. This is why everything you say, speak over yourself, and agree with has a major impact over your body and life. So voicing your goal out loud everyday right away in the morning and right before bed in the evening is a great first step towards bringing life to your goals. I cannot stress this enough because a decree is taking God’s words and speaking it out.
We have been given the authority from Jesus to make these decrees into our realms of influence and as we do it we begin to create the will of God in our life in the spiritual realm. Find scriptures to align with the desires of your heart and Decree those words! For me is 3 John 2 ““Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” All things: means “all” in the sense of “each (every) part that applies.” The word Prosper means to have a prosperous journey. To have a happy (successful) journey, to be on the right (profitable) path, i.e. leading to real success. And to be in good health: to be sound, healthy. I am well, am in good health; I am right, reasonable, sound, pure, uncorrupted. “healthy, working well”), free from debilitation. Decreeing God’s word is my birthright and my inheritance.
If you need an easy way to remember to say your declaration AM + PM, anchor this in with brushing your teeth. You already brush your teeth as part of your morning and evening routine, so keep your card in your bathroom at first if that’s the only way you’ll remember to do this. Stack this with your existing habit of brushing your teeth so your inspiration stays fresh and flows by doing this every day for the next 90 days.
Here is my declaration written as a goal statement:
“It’s March 31, 2021 and I have released 25 lbs and it feels amazing! I decree and declare the promise of 3 John 2 that I may prosper in all things and be in health, just as my soul prospers. I feel lighter physically and emotionally and I feel empowered in my health. I feel like I can accomplish anything. I am floating free as I was created to be. The late night snacking, comparisonitis, impulse and emotional eating I gave up was 150% worth it. I planned and prepped 3 clean meals a day, had a protein, greens and fiber shaker or fruit for a snack if I was hungry, slowed down and sat down to eat my meals, tracked my journey and shared it with others. The impact I feel from reaching my goal is now creating a course to help others to the same. I‘m about to have a $25K launch this year as people are getting breakthroughs already by what I’ve been sharing on my podcast.”
And I am finding that even 3 months out is too far for me so I need to re-write this as a 30 day goal statement.
