I have been using essential oils for over 10 years and still found a new way to incorporate them into my home. I love her tips and encouragement. Can’t wait for more!” Thank you Tami! I am so grateful to you for being on this journey with me.
Ok, Beloved…Do you think that food is your enemy? Do you have a love-hate relationship with it? Do you second guess what you should feed yourself or if you hunger could ever be satisfied in a healthy way? Listen Linda, Food is not your enemy. In fact, food was created for us to enjoy! Why do you think God gave you all those taste buds?! And adding more whole foods into your day is a great way to enjoy the abundance of flavors that exist in nature. Healthy, whole, nutrient-dense foods in their most natural form can help balance blood sugar (bye-bye mood swings and cravings!) and keep you feeling satisfied. Let’s dig into this because while it’s important not to get caught up in diet trends and overnight solutions to weight management, it is important to look at where you might be experiencing nutritional deficiencies and to begin to think of food as medicine rather than as the enemy or a quick fix. This process of holistic living is also about being able to create choices for yourself whether you are currently working on your relationship with food or you’re refining your plan to meet your body’s needs on a cellular level. Let’s walk this one out together and take this next step together in your holistic health journey.
Good marketing tells us to replace “junk foods” with other chemical-laden, healthy “looking” substitutions, but if you read the labels of the processed substitutions on the market, they are filled with additives and very little actual nutrients. I say “forget the labels and go for whole foods!” We have to look at what the body needs on a cellular level. I know when my cells are starving for nutrients because I can eat and eat and eat and never feel satisfied. One way to make sure you’re getting all the dense nutrition your body needs to thrive is the concept of “crowding out.” Joshua Rosenthal, who coined this term, and explains that as we begin to focus on bringing healthy whole foods into our routines, we will more likely be able to let go of the foods that don’t serve our bodies nutritionally. You know, the scraps you settle for off of your kids plates – or the skipping of meals because you are “too busy” to sit down and eat a real meal. The 2pm afternoon crash and burn into a bag of whatever overly processed carbs are in your cabinets.
Rosenthal says, “One of the most effective methods to overcome habitual consumption of unhealthy foods is to simply CROWD OUT these foods. If you fill your body with healthy, nutrient-dense foods, it is only natural that cravings for unhealthy foods will lessen.” Your cells become HAPPY and no longer hunger or settle for the junk you have laying around. This is something that I am currently working on because as a work from home, homeschooling mom of 4, I do struggle with meeting my nutritional needs. It’s not that I don’t have the necessary tools to do this and in fact, as a holistic life coach and previous weight loss program coordinator who literally helped co-create a weight loss program from scratch, I KNOW what I am supposed to feed my body. My guess is that you likely know this too. It’s whole foods in their simplest form, that are easy to digest and easy for the body to recognize and break down into a useable form. We are not just what we eat, but we are what we can digest and assimilate into nutrients.
So focusing on nutrient dense foods and crowding out the less nutrient filled foods is also the way we let go of restriction and focus on nutrition. We teach the body, which is biologically here, how to want healthier foods rather than junk foods. When my body get’s what it needs I don’t crave chocolate. YUP! And I don’t crave sugar. Yup, I said it. I actually crave water and green smoothies. And when YOU begin to work this process of “crowding out,” your body will begin to naturally let go of restriction on its own.
When you fill up on whole foods, the body is able to balance blood sugar, and a reduction in cravings and hunger pangs will result. And this will naturally crowd out other food choices and late-night binges, This can create a natural weight loss because whole foods are naturally full of fiber. All green vegetables and most fruits are foods that can be eaten anytime, depending on their sugar content; they are great fillers, and they provide great nutritional content.
SO WHAT ARE WHOLE FOODS EXACTLY? Essentially, a whole food is a food that hasn’t been processed and the ingredients are straight from a plant or an animal. Organic whole foods ensure that there are no chemical additives or hormones, and there’s been no tampering with the natural ingredients or genetic makeup. Organic will get you more bang for your buck body nutrition-wise, but locally grown food is great too! Most people find they need to supplement their diet and find optimum health by taking a whole-food based vitamin, mineral, and omega supplement. I will talk more about this in a bit as most supplements on the market are synthetic/petroleum-based – and just make for really expensive pee since your body doesn’t absorb them! But, it is difficult for the average person to live entirely on a diet of whole foods, and that isn’t our goal here. The point is simply to be aware of how much you are eating out of a package and how much you are eating that is fresh from nature, the way God intended it. Think about Adam and Eve walking in the garden and having an abundance of fresh, whole food goodness available in the purest form. YES!!! That’s what we are going for! So this scenario will look different for everyone depending on lifestyle, bio-individuality, and environment. The idea here is simply to be aware of what you are eating and to begin making small changes in this area. If you could try to aim for 5 servings per day of fresh, whole foods, that is a great place to start!
Ok, so what are some examples of foods that are natural and in their most whole state?
Vegetables
Fruits
Seafood
Nuts and Seeds
Beans and Legumes
Meat and Poultry
Eggs and Dairy
Whole Grains
Spices and Herbs (and Essential Oils!)
WHOLE FOODS TO CROWD OUT

Instead of dried fruit…
Instead of canned food…

DEFICIENCIES
If you’ve been on the diet roller coaster for years or have restricted eating patterns like me, then you will most likely be deficient in some area of nutritional health. There can be serious consequences with deficiencies, such as low zinc levels leading to eating disorders, low omega-3 oils leading to depression, and low vitamin B levels leading to symptoms of schizophrenia. New studies show that the health effects of vitamin D deficiency can be catastrophic, such as increased risk of death, cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment, asthma, and various forms of cancer. For those of you living in the northern climates like me, you can actually feel the effects of low vitamin d around Jan-Feb sometimes sooner if you aren’t taking care of your body on a cellular level. If you get SAD this time of year, please check listen to EP #8 for 10 practical tools to add to you wellness box to boost your mood during winter time.
My point is that while getting your vitamins and minerals from a healthy whole foods, balanced diet is most important, you may need to supplement your diet depending on what your personal needs are. Most people find optimum health taking a whole food based multi vitamin and a high-quality fish oil supplement. Everyone can benefit from well-rounded nutrients and doing so can improve your metabolism and enzyme processes in your body.
I am a HUGE proponent for taking digestive enzymes and a time-released probiotic daily in addition to your whole food based supplements and I will likely do a separate episode on those but I want to close out today on building a better foundation with daily whole food based supplementation.
WHOLE FOOD BASED SUPPLEMENTS:
You always hear me talk about how essential oils are so amazing and that they can do miraculous things in our bodies, AND THAT’S TRUE, but they can do SO. MUCH. MORE (faster) when they have the proper building blocks in place. I cannot function without my whole food based supplements as my foundation. I’ve taken a LOT of supplements during my time as a patient and as a wellness advocate at the nutrition and chiropractic clinic that I worked for. I also have affiliated with several practitioner quality supplement lies and the ones that I’ve been taking for the last 8 yeras are by far THE MOST intelligently created, comprehensive, and truly holistic supplement formula I have ever come across. I cannot share the brand on the podcast but I can share TESTIMONIALS + RESULTS 30 DAY STUDY. If you would like to get some, you can reach out to me at support@coveredbeloved.com and I will personally respond to your message.
But I want to show you how you can leverage them as your daily 60-sec solution to BE, THINK and FEEL your best as a modern-day human…in a modern-day world.
Would it be ok if I took just a few minutes to do that for you?
Perfect!
Those of you that know me know that this is my secret weapon. It’s like a high-speed phone charger that will get you to 100% on a daily basis faster than anything else. It’s a whole food-based vitamin, mineral and omega supplement that is infused with essential oils. You get the antioxidant equivalent of 12 servings of fruits and vegetables with the full dose to help you BE, THINK and FEEL at your best as a modern day mom in a modern day world.
It helps me close the nutritional gap from being a busy mom of 4. It made my last 2 pregnancies so much easier with better sleep, more energy, and fewer aches and pains. I don’t want to have to think about if I am getting what I need nutritionally – I mean we mamas have enough to worry about don’t we? These help keep me sane as a mom of 4 girls and help me have more balanced moods. It helps me detox daily and rid my body of waste, which keeps my mind sharp and that brain fog is gone when I’m on them. So is the pain from previous car accidents and birthing 4 babies. If I don’t take it, I feel all old and creaky. It really helps me feel normal and pain-free. Once when my back and hips were acting up, I thought about what was going on and I realized that I hadn’t taken them for 3 weeks! Turns out you have to actually take the time to fill your weekly tray back up -joking! They make such a difference and I hardly ever get sick because my body is getting what it needs and it helps me sleep better too. It’s all in there for me. All I have to do is set aside 60 secs a day to take it.
So what’s in them…? It comes in 3 parts…
The first part is the vitamin and mineral piece – Now I’m not sure if you know this, but every single process that goes on in your body, from digestion to detoxification to hormone creation to brain function is all done by vitamins and minerals. This part of the trio helps you to BE at your best as this will give you enough vitamins and minerals to BE a modern-day human in a modern-day environment. I say that because most of us are actually vitamin and mineral deficient… isn’t that interesting to think about? With all the abundance around us, we should be able to get what we need from our food. I already talked about how if you’re not eating organic whole foods that you are likely deficient. But nowadays our food supply is so poor, that it’s lacking the proper vitamins and minerals that it’s had for the past 1000s of years. Organic food has more nutrition, yes, that’s true, but the Scientific American published an article that modern-day food is so depleted that if we look at the nutritional makeup of an orange from our grandparents time, for example, it would actually be the same as 8 oranges in modern day time. Big difference, right? Even on my best day if I were to meet the daily requirement of 9-12 servings of fruits and vegetables, and I STOPPED taking my supplement pack, it wouldn’t take long for me to start showing signs of deficiency because of the lack of nutrients.
If you are not sleeping well, are stressed out, are stiff and sore, lacking energy, having digestive issues, mood swings, a slowing metabolism, cravings, or get sick all of the time — this is your wall of protection. This is your insurance policy because this part is going to help you close that nutritional gap so you can stay on top of your physical and mental game and BE the (incredible) human being that you are! And it’s bioavailable which means that your body actually absorbs it vs just really expensive pee like other vitamins that your body can’t process.
So it helps you BE your best.
The next part of the trio helps you THINK your best. This is the essential fatty acid complex. We HAVE to put these in our body; they are ESSENTIAL and yet our bodies can’t make them. Therefore, we have to get them from an external source. I LOVE the one I take because it contains both land and marine sources. But our brains are 80% fat, so these fatty acids are essential to our mood, to our mental sharpness, to our brain and neurological function, to our memory. And they are also key to nourishing the cardiovascular system and our joints.
So if you experience headaches, joint pain and discomfort, brain fog, lack of focus or cognitive dysfunction, depressive moods, or behavioral issues – this formula will be key to nourishing your body and brain. It will help you to THINK and function at your best.
There are also 9 essential oils in here to support your body, and they also act as a natural preservative so you don’t have to refrigerate them and you won’t get those nasty fish burps. Amen, right?
Ok, the third and final part I’m going to talk about is cellular renewal piece. This one helps you FEEL your best. This 3rd part of my supplement pack is why I believe most people FEEL like a different person within the first 30 days of taking them. If you look at the ingredients (which I can get you if you message me) and what they can do, you’ll quickly realize that taking this is kind of like taking a fire extinguisher to your entire body. Have seen or are aware of those articles everywhere that say: “Inflammation is killing us all!!”. Right? When you look at the ingredients (turmeric – curcumin, green tea extract, grape seed extract, coenzyme Q10, quercetin, polyphenols, antioxidants) those are all are key to bringing down those inflammation levels so you FEEL like a new person ready to tackle your day! Those are all in here, so that means you can stop spending so much on individual supplements, and stop wasting time taking these ingredients separately because it’s all in there. Taking this is kind of like cleaning your fish tank when it’s super scuzy. This piece will do that for your cells and get them nice and squeaky clean so they can fire on all cylinders.
So this trio pack can be your secret weapon too, and I even have a 30 day money back guarantee so if even after 30 days of taking the full dose you don’t feel a difference, you can get a full refund, no questions asked – even if your bottles are empty. I realize they may not work for everyone, but think we’ve only had maybe a dozen or two of these in the last 12 years and that’s out of millions of clients.
