Speaker 1:
All right, yay! We are back with my sister friend Julie Morr from Tremont, Illinois. Julie and I first met through our mutual friend, and fitness and nutrition coach Robyn Wright. If you haven’t listened to episode number three on food and fitness freedom, and also episodes nine and 10 on inner healing, go back and listen to those. Our friend Robyn, she’s just a superstar. And she’s the founder of Faithfully Living Fit. So go back and listen to those if you haven’t checked them out yet. And so Julie and I have known each other for a while through that journey of growth and restoration. And I knew I just had to have her on the show to share her story, the power of music and worship, homeschooling, all the things. She has a beautiful voice, a heart for the Lord, moves powerfully in the prophetic, and I can’t wait for you to hear from her firsthand. So welcome, Julie!
Speaker 2:
Thank you. So excited to be here!
Speaker 1:
So fun. Okay, so if you don’t mind, just kind of tell us a little bit about you, what lights you up, what your hobbies are, and how you like to spend your free time.
Speaker 2:
Yes. I don’t know why I always choose to define myself by this, but I am currently a homeschool mom in this season. And mainly because that is what takes up the majority of my time – prioritizing that. So yeah, I’ve got four kids 8, 7, 5 and 4. I’ve been married to my husband, Jared since 2011. So we are going on 10 years this May, which is like oh my goodness, is that real. And it’s been a wild ride for us. But man, what really lights me up is just like watching my kids come alive and watching women come alive, fully unlocked, fully free living from their heart. The Lord is showing me the pieces that it takes and the steps that it’s taking to help women become free. Yeah, I guess like from the inside out.And it’s really it’s been such an exciting journey currently in the season that I’m in to just run wild and free right now.
Speaker 1:
That’s so good. I echo what you’re just sensing and feeling from the Lord about setting them free and healing their heart from the inside out. Because inside, like whatever’s going on inside, it’s reflecting on the outside, whether we realize it or not. So just stepping into that full healing that only he can bring, and we desperately need. So I love that. Okay, well tell us about what you do. You mentioned homeschooling and that’s kind of your “living” right now, but I know you have your hands and a few other things. So tell us your journey, I guess. And whatever you feel led to share about getting to where you are today with that?
Speaker 2:
Yes. Well, getting to where I am. Man, it’s been a lot of releasing of control. It’s had to take a lot of releasing of significance and releasing of striving, honestly, to get where I am today. What I have found where I’m at now is Lord has been gracious to show me some of these different things that I’m doing is like so first of all, I’ve run a photography business for the last basically all of our marriage the last 10 years. And I feel like the Lord is closing down that season and opening up a brand new season of what I mentioned earlier, is freeing and unlocking women to just run into all that they’re called to be. But I believe that he showed me specifically it’s going to from my end, it’s going to have to take that release of control, that release of striving. And that release of significance, you know, because actually, at the very beginning of 2021, the Lord brought a word to my spirit. And it said something to the effect of being others oriented and that I would only find my life in which I am actually helping other women be in a spot that I want to be
Does that make sense? I love that when I am to the point where I want to see other women free more than myself, if that makes sense, that’s where I’ll find my true grounding in my launchpad when I can help others stand on my shoulders and say, “there’s more to life than feeling stuck. There’s more to life than thinking this is your new normal, because it’s not like there’s a whole new level and more territory that the Holy Spirit wants to go on with you and new adventures.” But he’s really had to release in me that place of striving to like try to make it happen, or the control having it happen how I want it to, and the need for significance or popularity. He’s just like, “put that all aside and just focus on what’s in front of you. What’s the here and now. And how can you help people get there where you want to be because that’s where you’re going to find your calling, and just being rooted and grounded in that.”
Speaker 1:
That’s so good. So how do you find the time to balance all that God has called you to do? Right now you have your photography business, which you said is maybe possibly getting phased out. You’re homeschooling four kids, right? You’re a wife and you do ministry worship. So tell us like how do you find time to balance that.
Speaker 2:
That is a question I love answering mainly because I don’t have it all figured out. But I have found that when I wake up in the morning, I really have to live in a Holy Spirit tension and asking the spirit, “okay, you know all the things that I need to do today, but what is it that you want me to do?” And releasing my, again, my control of the things that I feel like has to be done and allowing the Holy Spirit to just manifest and make things come together that’s supposed to be. Now that’s not saying that I don’t have a structure. I actually was just talking to my husband about this today, like with homeschooling, this is my first year. So we’re really trying to figure it all out. And with the first year, we heard that there’s a lot of adjustment going on, too. But I do believe that for us what’s working is time blocking and time scheduling. And so we’ll say okay, from 8am to 12, nothing comes in the way of my homeschooling, no ministry need, no business need, no computer time, and no phone.
I used to have this phrase, I still do actually, it’s just, “be all in.” Whatever I said, I’m gonna do in that timeframe, I am all in. And it’s actually helping me to become more focused and distraction free. And I’m actually giving my kids my best of my day, my best hour of my day, my best four hours belongs to them. And then I kind of chunk up the day after that, depending on what I feel like the Holy Spirit is putting an emphasis on. And sometimes that’s ministry. And sometimes I’m sitting down in my basement working on some songs for a couple hours. And sometimes that looks like sitting down and doing laundry. Like it really just kind of asked, honestly, I know some people would be like, “Oh, that’s just so over spiritual.” But for me, I have to rely on His Spirit because I won’t find my groove without him. I just can’t, I can’t live life without him. And I know that he is helping me every step of the way when I yield to what he’s asking me to do, or whatever is right in front of me.
Speaker 1:
So yeah, that’s good. I think that you know, if we open up our minds to the world and our hearts to the world first thing in the morning, we can get so off track so quickly. And so I really honor how you have set boundaries, man, like, this is my family. This is my, you know, I can do all this other stuff with grace and love and and a pace that honors the growth of my family. Because right here right now, this is what matters most. And all that other stuff is just gonna kind of figure its way. And you know, it all gets done eventually.
Speaker 2:
Exactly. Yeah, that’s good. And honestly, though, Heidi, that took me that took me a really long time to figure that out. Because I would be so distracted with my kids to one point, like my son, he grabbed me by the arm, he’s like, “Mom, look at me, in the eyes, I’m talking to you.” And I realized that my head was in the phone answering probably a Facebook message regarding business or something. And I had one of those moments like, “oh, my goodness, what am I doing?” Like this needs for the benefit of my children, because I’m choosing to have them at home, I need to be all in for their sake. And they need to know that they can count on mommy to hear them as soon as they call on me, you know?
Speaker 1:
Yeah, definitely. I’ve been there. Alright, um, how do you ground yourself? How do you live each day from a place of rest?
Speaker 2:
This is so good. I just release the control. And I will fulfill the things that I know God has called me to do. And right now, like I said, that’s that homeschooling time, that’s an hour of business, and that’s an hour of ministry, and then everything else is released. So I wake up in the morning, I love to work out with Robyn in the morning, I just started doing that it has brought me so much life. And I do those personal things in the morning. So I wake up at 6am, get some movement in, and then I go out and watch the sunrise in the morning and spend time in the word. And I have found the moments in the mornings that I actually don’t choose to live life discipline, my days are haywire. I don’t know if anyone else can relate to that who’s listening. But when we can ground ourselves with movement and the word the whole day kind of seems to follow suit.
And then living within those time schedule blocks, like what I spoke about earlier, and then releasing the rest. So okay, I gave four hours to my kids today, I gave one hour to build my business and one or two hours to songwriting and then it’s released and I let the Lord do the multiplication. And I think when I have released the control in that area, I have found that he loves to come in and multiply my sacrifice. Back when I was praying about whether or not I should homeschool and because I felt called to open this new season and to kind of build this other side business, and I just felt the Holy Spirit so gently say to me, “Julie, don’t you think that I can do more with one hour of sacrifice time then you could do with hoarding eight hours of your own time?” And that was so pivotal for me because again, releasing control. Giving what I have – giving the, what is it, the fish and the loaves? The small amount that I have and asking God, “multiply it how you will it’s in your hands now,” then that leaves me in a place of truly being able to rest because I know God is faithful. And he’s going to keep the promises that he’s spoken over my life and I don’t have to strive.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that’s awesome. I just participated in a three day prophetic heart healing training. And one of the things they just mentioned last night was that God’s promises never expire. That just made me think of that when you were talking about his promises. Like he’s gonna be good on it. He’s not, it’s not gonna expire. Yes, no striving, there’s no rush. Like it’s there for you. It’s not for anybody else like this. Yeah, promise in particular is for you only so good.
We’ve been talking a lot on the podcast about hearing God’s voice and the different ways God is speaking to us in our everyday lives. A couple guests that will be airing guest interviews speaking about this, this is something we’re really working on with my seven year old, you know, God’s main language is not English. He talks in all these different ways. And so would you mind sharing, because I know God speaks to you in dreams, just a little bit about how he does that?
Speaker 2:
Yes. Also, I love that your seven year old that you’re speaking to that already, because I am just now figuring out. I heard that. I think I just heard that a couple months ago, that God’s first language is not English. And I was like, “What?” It was like one of those revelation moments where I was like, I knew that but man now I really know that. But for me, yes, dreams. Wow. Okay. So I didn’t fully understand it until the Lord started putting people in my path and showing me that the Lord still speaks in parables, and it’s called dreams. And that each dream that we’re given is like a little treasure from him. And we can choose to unlock the treasure box and dig for the treasures that are inside of it. Or we can choose not to honestly.
For some people digging into dreams can be kind of scary, or we write it off, because we don’t think it means anything. I personally believe that God speaks through all dreams. I believe that he is over all of it. And he can show us what is going on in the spirit realm, he can show us what spirits are at play, give us prayer strategies inside of our dreams. And I’m actually just now I keep my phone by my bedside at night. And when I found that I am stewarding the dreams and writing them down in the middle of the night, he has been faithful to show me the interpretation of them when I take the time to search it out. And when I take the time to find the treasures inside of it, and then I’ll like jot it down. And I’m actually just now “decoding” a dream that he gave me back in November of 2019 that I am actually watching play out right now. Which is so fun. And it’s you know, it’s still like, “okay, Lord, I know, I don’t understand all the working pieces yet but I know that you’re up to something and I, I just say yes, I just say yes to whatever it is that you want to do in me.”
But honestly, for the dreams, like I was asking a friend, how do you help them? Like how do you remember your dreams at night? Or my husband says that he doesn’t remember his dreams? How do I help him and one key that I have found is when you keep a dream notebook right next to your bed waking up and being diligent to actually write it down, you’ll wake up in the morning and be like, “Oh, my goodness, I can’t even remember that fact that I wrote that down. But I’m so glad that I did.” And then finding someone you trust asking the Holy Spirit for an interpretation or just finding someone that you trust that you can say, “Hey, can you look this over for me? I think the Lord is speaking I’m just not sure how.” And when we invite the Holy Spirit into that process He is so faithful.
I have to say when my husband and I got married, he would joke around that he never dreamed, like ever. And I was like, Okay, yeah, right. And he could never remember them in the morning. And now he’s dreaming like crazy. He’s been faithfully stewarding it and writing it down. And probably more often than not, now he’ll say, b”abe, I had this dream,” he’ll write it down. And I actually like to use a dream dictionary to help me with the interpretation. I use the Divinity Code dream book. And that has been a great tool because it gives scriptural references with each sim symbol, I guess you could say. And I have found that the more that I am digging into the scriptural references and asking the Holy Spirit to breathe light on the revelation, and he is faithful to do so when I take the time to search it out and to find those treasures with my hands and my heart opened up to what he wants to do and what he wants to say to me.
Speaker 1:
That’s so fun. Oh my goodness, What would you say if someone had what they would perceive then as a bad dream, is that God using the strategy like prayer strategy for us to show us how we can pray into that situation?
Speaker 2:
I personally believe Yes, it’s a prayer strategy. And also I have found that when we have nightmares, when I have had nightmares, it’s actually things are very emphasized in dreams that are not as, I have to be careful how I say this. They’re not as crazy in real life, because things in the spirit realm are so – like a spirit of pride for example. We in the natural, we see that, “oh, that’s just pride.” But in the spirit realm, pride is ugly. Pride is nasty. Pride is of like the utmost. I don’t know what the word is, like, God hates it, right? But to us, we tend to like push off those things like, “yeah, I’m prideful. I struggle with pride.” But then to him, it’s like, “get it out of your life now, like, I don’t want that anywhere near you.” And so I believe it’s just most of the time nightmares it’s giving us clues into what spirits are involved over your life for what could be hurting somebody not hurting somebody. But Gosh, what, what’s at play and how we can pray into it and break it off and not leave them in the place that they are, but bring freedom.
Speaker 1:
Awesome. Yeah, I just love how many different ways God speaks to us. I’m reading Lana Vawser’s book right now. What is it the prophetic voice of God learning to recognize the language of the Holy Spirit? And she mentioned that book that you did? Is it. What was it again? The divinity code?
Speaker 2:
Yes. The divinity code by Adam Thompson and Adrian Beale.
Speaker 1:
Okay. Yeah. Yeah. So good. Okay, so that, yeah, it’s so fun, like the kingdom is so fun! And I think stewardship you mentioned that’s such a key principle in the kingdom, you know, just stewarding the little things and right, because we’ve been faithful with the small he increases as we grow and mature. It’s just one of those key principles stewardship.
Speaker 2:
Yes.
Speaker 1:
So you want people to know that God loves them, and wants to speak with them more than they can even imagine. What has God shown you about himself over the last year?
Speaker 2:
So much like you said that he desires my freedom more than I do. And he desires to get me free, and that he is patient with me. He has shown me that he’s so patient with the process. I was actually at a songwriting retreat a couple weekends ago and the way they had it worked out is they broke us up into different groups. And the first thing they wanted you to do is they wanted you to speak into each other’s lives and find the theme of what the Lord is doing in each of your lives. And I loved that piece. Because in all of my co-writing sessions, I never thought to dig in and see what the Lord is doing. And it was so beautiful. Because what I found I was with these two other girls, I found that the Lord was doing the same thing in them that he was doing with me. And we just had this picture of the Lord leading us up this mountain, and that he is okay with everything being a process.
You mentioned earlier that he’s not in a rush, like God was willing to take his time with me, and he’s so patient with me. And if I don’t get something, he’s not bashing anything over my head. He’s coming alongside me like the Good Shepherd. And he’s showing me the way to go. And sometimes it feels like actually, when you read Psalm 23, in the Passion translation, and you read the notes underneath it, how a shepherd would lead the sheep up the hill. What felt like you were going in circles and circles, you know, like, they hear that, like, I’m going, “why am I going around this mountain again, like, Lord, I should have this figured out by now.” But it’s actually when we get to do that process with the Lord. It’s actually our way of ascent, or it’s our way to ascend the mountain. And what feels like circles is actually a way to go higher and higher from glory to glory. And he’s not going to leave you alone in that process. In fact, he wants to take you up higher than we want to go. And he’s willing to put us on his shoulders as he’s like, carrying us up from glory to glory. And that all I have to do is just keep saying yes to what’s right in front of me. And I can keep yielding to what His Spirit wants to do in my heart. And it’s okay that it’s going to take time, because he’s the God of abundance. And He’s the God of unlimited resources. And what he said again, those promises that he has spoken over each and every one of our lives, he is going to bring it to fulfillment over you. It doesn’t matter how many times it feels like you’ve circled that mountain, you are going from glory to glory, and you are going where he wants you to. We just have to keep yielding and saying yes, in every season that he’s asking us to meet. I’ll tell you what, when I learned that God’s not in a rush, and he has abundant resources, especially with time, it just took all sorts of pressure off me and it really was a key when I mentioned about releasing the striving that was a key for me because knowing that he wants it more than I do, and he’s not going to let go of me. And every step of the way He’s there to lead me into and guide me, and it’s all going to work out in his time.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that’s Beautiful. He’s so awesome. Like, he’s such a gentleman. He’s not ever going to be pushy or like, pressure you before you’re ready, although he will show you things. And if you’re paying attention, he’s like, “I’m ready to heal this with you. Can we talk about it?”
Speaker 2:
Yes, you know, and so he’s always inviting. And that’s great. And it’s always in his kindness, that he’s revealing things. I think as I was journeying through, like, you know, just those dreams earlier that I was speaking about. If anything comes at you, in a spirit of condemnation, or spirit of you should have done this differently. Blah, blah, blah. It’s actually you can tell that it’s God’s voice when it speaks to you in kindness and it’s gently bringing you in versus a shaming.
Speaker 1:
Definitely. That’s so good. Thank you for sharing that. Okay, so if people want to connect with you, where can they find you?
Speaker 2:
I would love it if they wanted to connect with me via Instagram. It’s just @julie.morr really simple. And they can just come hang out with me over there. Send me any messages if they have any questions. Honestly, if anyone even wants to send dreams if they need a trusted person to land on that, I’d be more than happy to just pray into those with you. And for you. I just want to see people living fully unlocked and fully alive.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that’s so good. I might have to message you about my dream that I just had.
Speaker 2:
Oh, yes, please do.
Speaker 1:
Yes, I will. Oh, that’s so fun. Okay, so as we just kind of bring this to a close here, can you tell us what’s next for you in 2021? It sounds like it’s already been like a stellar year so far, and we’re only in March. But what’s next for you in 2021?
Speaker 2:
Oh, nothing. You know what I’m learning? That it’s okay to be in a place of rest. And he’s drawing me into a season of stillness. Lana Vawser just released a word even about the daughters of God coming into a place of stillness. And I was like, “okay, Lord, that I know that is me.” He’s going to take me into a season of being at rest so that he can heal in different parts of my heart, so that I can be healed and help others from that point on. But honestly, I really don’t know what the next year looks like other than my hands are open. My heart is free and just letting him do his thing.
Speaker 1:
I think that’s a beautiful place to be. I mean, what better place right and around with your hands open your heart?
Speaker 2:
Exactly.
Speaker 1:
Yeah, that’s awesome. I love that. Well, Julie, thank you for your time today. I know a lot of the listeners are just gonna appreciate your vulnerability and your realness and your authenticity. I pray a blessing over everything that you have that you’re working on right now your music, your connections and relationships with your family, your deep going deeper with God and just having him pour his blessings out onto you in every way imaginable in your view your marriage over your family, your business connections and with your music. So, thank you.
Speaker 2:
